ARTS VISALIA March Meet-the-Artist Opening Reception

Francisco Alonzo "Icononografica"

Throughout March, local artist Francisco Alonzo will be showing new works in a show entitled "Iconografica," an investigation of the role of capitalism on contemporary culture. He explores how important iconographic images are reduced to everyday knick-knacks and the interweaving of other images into contemporary culture. Francisco is a Visalia native who started his art education at COS. He finished his undergraduate work at Sonoma State University and his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He teaches Screen Printing and Drawing at COS and co-advises the Printworks Club. Francisco states that his work stems from research into gang family structure and how it arose from labor disputes dating back to the Bracero program. Opening Reception: March 3rd, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Exhibit Runs: March 1-24, 2017 Arts Visalia Visual Art Center 214 E. Oak Ave., Visalia. Sponsored in part by Jack and Charlie's, the Vintage Press, and the Sourthern Pacific Depot Restaurants.
