The Annual Holiday Show & Sale Exhibition and Opening Reception at Arts Visalia
In December 2019, Arts Visalia presents the Annual Holiday Show & Sale. The Holiday Show & Sale is our one and only gift show, where the gift shop spills over into the gallery space, displaying over 50 local artisans featuring a wide array of unique works of art that are hand crafted. It’s an opportunity for patrons to do their holiday shopping in one place. The exhibition starts November 20th, a week before Thanksgiving and Black Friday. By purchasing a handmade gift, you are supporting the arts in your community plus taking something special home with you. The Annual Holiday Show & Sale will be displayed November 20th through December 14th, with an opening reception on First Friday, December 6th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibition is sponsored in part by Jack & Charlie’s, the Vintage Press Restaurante, and the Southern Pacific Depot Restaurant. In January 2020, Arts Visalia will host Coyolxauhqui. Coyolxauhqui is an exhibition by Madera native Gloria Osuna Perez, which achieved great success in El Paso, Texas and in the Chicano Art Movement. Her work has appeared in a one-woman show in the Clinton White House, in the El Paso Museum of Art, and most recently, 20 years after her death, her widower, Roberto Perezdiaz brought it to the Madera County Arts Council’s Circle Gallery. According to Aztec mythology, Coyolxauhqhi is the Moon goddess. The exhibition consists of Gloria’s interpretation of the Coyolxauhqui wheel, along with ten paintings of women who the artist claims are direct descendants of Coyolxauhqui’s sacrifice. Arts Visalia’s Young Imaginations Gallery will display the artworks of 5-17 year old participants of our children’s classes from November’s sessions of Art in Drawing. Arts Visalia’s spring class enrollment forms are available at Arts Visalia and online. Spring classes start in February. There is a wide range of classes offered for both adults and children. Arts Visalia Visual Art Gallery and gift shop is open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and is located at 214 East Oak Avenue, Visalia, California 93291.
