Julie Raymer "Watercolors"
The Exeter Courthouse Gallery Welcomes Julie Raymer. "Watercolors" runs March 7-May 2, 2020.
In March the Exeter Courthouse Gallery will be featuring the watercolors of Julie Raymer of Fresno. Julie was born and raised in the Bay Area. As a young child Julie kept herself busy drawing, coloring and embroidering. Throughout grade school her artistic talent blossomed and many of her pieces were chosen for display at local shows. In her junior year of high school a friend encouraged her to take an art class where she was introduced to watercolor, acrylic and oil painting. Julie soon excelled in her pursuit of art winning Best of Show and 1st Place at the Mid Peninsula League Art Show, San Mateo County Fair, Bank of America Award in Art and had an oil painting exhibited in Chicago in a national art contest. Julie attended San Jose State working towards a degree in art when, after two years, she left to go to work for the phone company. While working Julie met her husband Dan, married, had their first child and moved to Fresno to raise their family. Her art was set aside while raising their children and when they left the nest to start their own lives, Julie’s husband encouraged her to take up art again. She took his advice and in 2014 she took a solo artist’s retreat and jumped back into art after thirty-five years. Julie began working in drawing and watercolors and has continued to improve and perfect her style over the last six years. She is a member of the ACA, Clovis Art Guild, Madera Arts Council and has participated in many shows, events, exhibits and workshops. Recently Julie has opened a studio space at Sorenson’s Studios in Fresno, selling 3 pieces within the first weekend of opening her space! Julie also just found out her painting, “Blossom Yield”, was chosen for the Blossom Trail Poster this year! Julie’s work will be in the gallery March 7 through May 2. Please join us for Julie’s reception on Sunday, March 8 from 2-4 PM and meet this talented artist! Our upcoming shows are: May-June, Tamara Bettencourt, lovely acrylic works, ocean scenes and abstracts. July-August, William and Susan Bishop, sculpture and acrylic paintings, along with special guest Steven Ball’s watercolors.
