The Porterville College’s Cultural Historical Awareness Program (C.H.A.P.) will begin its spring schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 18 with a special Black History Month presentation of “Allensworth: History and Personal Recollections” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the PC Theater. Allensworth is an African American community in southeastern Tulare County that was established in 1908. Today, it is known as Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park. The event is open to the public and free to attend. Contact the front desk in the Academic Center building upon your arrival for a free temporary parking permit.
